Into the Nest: Intimate Views of the Courting, Parenting, and Family Lives of Familiar Birds

by Laura Erickson & Marie Read

This book is a fantastic compliment to the Burgess Bird Book story as it goes into great depth about all the habits of 25 bird species that were mentioned throughout Peter Rabbits adventures. Filled with gorgeous color photos you get to meet “Jenny Wren and her family” and countless other feathered friend real life “characters”. This is a top pick!

What It’s Like To Be A Bird:

From Flying to Nesting, Eating to Singing, What Birds Are Doing, And Why

by David Allen Sibley

David Sibley’s latest book is also great for the entire family with fantastic color illustrations of most all the birds mentioned in the Burgess Bird Book and engaging details that keep curious folks coming back for more. This too is a top pick and comes highly recommended by my 20 year old son who has taken on bird photography just in the past year. Visit my son’s collection of New England bird nature photos HERE.

Rx – Nature Nurtures – Breath of Fresh Air

Short and Simple Spring Tidings in Odd Times

Nature Nurtures us and is good ” Rx medicine” for one and ALL – always.

In this time of feeling like the world is upside down take a moment to get grounded by connecting to nature.

A momentary breath of fresh air,

seeing buds on the trees,

searching for seedlings sprouting in the spring soil,

simply watching the clouds go by,

or soaking up some sunshine

are all ways we can bring peace and calm back into our lives to help navigate the challenges ahead.

Once you are there in that space pay attention to the kiddos and pets in your life and find moments of laughter and silly to help light the way.

❤ ❤ ❤ We are all connected and in this together. ❤ ❤ ❤

A SPECIAL WEATHER MOMENT

The short and long of it is we are experiencing a rare ICE storm in my neck of the woods in WMass so I have a very brief window of opportunity to send today’s blog post to you.

Our local trusted weather forecaster has labeled this as rare so I’m thinking perhaps it is almost, although not quite, as rare as meatballs dropping from the sky!

So today’s BOOK LOOK moment is in a different format and is quite simply for you to discover the wonders of Judi Barrett’s story.

Then fire up your imagination to see what kinds of things just may fall out of the sky the next time you watch the clouds roll by!

How many P.L.A.Y. adventures can you and your family come up with to match those “meatball moments”?

Sending Smiles,

Karen 🙂
