  • Super Challenge: What does a winter wonderland look like to you? Set the scene and share it in your Nature Adventure journal.
  • Super-Duper Challenge: Recreate this book cover with paper collage, or paints, or finger paints, or 3D Paint on the computer!

This was my Super-Duper-Challenge best P.L.A.Y.-filled effort to recreate the scene!

P.L.A.Y.-filled activity adventure suggestions (long):

  • Challenge: Prepare ahead by gathering many leaves of various sizes and colors and pressing them to dry AND WAITING ONE WEEK until the leaves are ready for crafting.
  • Super Challenge: While you wait a week for the leaves to dry be considering the art you’d like to make. Is it a simple collage of color? Assembling an animal like the photo’s in Morteza’s leaf work? Or creating a larger piece with seasonal scenery? 
  • Super-Duper Challenge: What other materials in nature could you use in your art work? Pressed flower petals? Seeds? Various colors of stones or sand? Experiment!
  • Super-Duper-Special- Challenge: Look up landscape art ( and the well known Andy Goldsworthy) and outdoor ephemeral art for more simple to super challenging adventures.

  • Challenge: Count some things on your next nature adventure, record them in a nature journal, and see if you can get to 10 (or more!)
  • Super Challenge: Cut paper construction pieces of all colors to make your own forest collage. First Look Up! into the canopy of the forest on a bright sunny day and really take in all the shadows and shades of various leaf and sky colors. Layer small paper pieces of all the colors you see to create your own one-of-a-kind mosaic memory of your day spent in the forest.
  • Super-Duper Challenge: In the snowy winter bring this book outside and see if you can draw the footprints of each animal and make a set of tracks to fool your family and friends into thinking you’ve had visitors from the forest!
